PISA: Female 15-year-olds by science proficiency level (%). Level 1A is currently reported for 52 countries. The highest value is 45.0% in Tunisia; the lowest is 4.2% in Macao.
The median across all reporting countries is 15.7%, and the mean is 18.6%.
The gap between the highest and lowest reporting country is a factor of about 11.
Over the past decade 40 countries rose and 12 fell. The largest increase was in Korea, Rep. (up 139.5%), and the largest decrease in Macao (down 42.6%).

Percentage of 15-year-old female students scoring higher than 335 but less than or equal to 410 on the PISA science scale. At Level 1A, students are able to use basic or everyday content and procedural knowledge to recognise or identify explanations of simple scientific phenomenon. With support, they can undertake structured scientific enquiries with no more than two variables. They are able to identify simple causal or correlational relationships and interpret graphical and visual data that require a low level of cognitive demand. Level 1a students can select the best scientific explanation for given data in familiar personal, local and global contexts.
